When adding a new year to your plans, you have the option to copy over templates from the prior year. Hope that helps, please let us know if you have any questions. Thanks!

  3. Attendance Tracking

I would like to have an attendance template that I could add to classes. I would input my own students for the different classes but be able to keep track of their attendance right in my planbook.

You can now track your student attendance! Attendance includes both absent and tardy, and can be tracked for the entire day and/or by individual classes. You can access attendance from the Add button, or from the Lesson Action drop down for each lesson. We are working to better integrate student attendance with class seating, to allow teachers to track attendance directly from class seating charts.

  4. Email subscription expiration soon

When I got to school this morning and opened my planbook there was a pop-up message that said my subscription had expired and I could not edit my planbook anymore. My first reaction was to panic since I needed my planbook TODAY!! I went ahead and quickly entered my credit card info (luckily I had a credit card on me!) and then I got to thinking....why wasn't I notified in advance that my subscription was about to expire? The whole thing seemed rather abrupt. Then I started wondering if my planbook had been hacked and someone had just tricked me…

Good news! All teachers will now receive an email reminder one week before their planbook subscriptions expires. Hope that helps, any questions please us know. Thanks!

  5. Add Standards - Keep subject the same when switching grade

It would great if there was a way to keep the subject area the same as you search between grade levels. I work with special education students and often times I am searching between multiple grade within the same subject. When I want to search for another grade level, the subject goes back to the default which is "Arts-Connections". Thanks!

  6. Allow separate Student/Parent/Admin views

My principal wants to see my entire plans online. My students only want to see the relevant homework for their own classes. Since my administrator does not have planbook, the only opportunity is to share everything to everyone. Kids: overwhelmed! Could we have the option to share various versions? Maybe per class if we want?

Good news! You can now create as many “View” links as you’d like, and each can have its own unique set of information to share (classes, lesson sections, lesson status, date range, etc.) This allows you to define unique Views for students, parents, substitutes, administrators, or any other group you’d like!

You can also now include “View Notes” for each View, to provide any general information you’d like to share that is not tied to a specific day or week.

  7. collapse the lesson text to show only heading.

It would great if I could collapse the lesson text boxes to show only the heading. I don't need to see everything, every day, all day long. For example I have opening day procedures template for every day. The procedures don't change. I know what to do but a sub wouldn't. If I could collapse text boxes it would make viewing much easier and I wouldn't have to scroll down to see the afternoon lessons.

  8. Allowing a week long/Unit plan rather than daily plan

With Common Core we are told we can not submit daily plans and they need to be unit plans or weekly plans. I was told I couldn't use Plan Book because it is written daily. I really like this program and would like to use it but I need an option to set up my year by either daily plans or weekly plans.

To provide better support for lesson organization and long range planning, we have added support for Class Units. An unlimited number of units can be created for each class, and you can then assign standards, assignments, assessments, and lessons to the unit. Units can be as short or long as needed, and can break down a class into weeks, chapters, themes, etc.

Good news! The NGSS standards are available in planbook.com, and are listed under “National – Next Generation Science Standards” in the State/Local drop down menu. Feel free to contact us at support@planbook.com with any questions. Thanks!

  12. Add a Teaching Strategies section

In your "Standards" tab/category, you have Bloom's Taxonomy and Marzano's Instructional Strategies. Neither of them are truly standards. They are actually "instructional strategies".

I would like to suggest that Bloom's Taxonomy and Marzano's Instructional Strategies be placed in a separate category or tab called "Strategies". Gardner's Multiple Intelligences could also be added to this category.

To use this category, there could be two options.
1.) A tab (similar to "Standards") would allow the teachers to select which strategies they would include for the particular lesson. The selected strategies would be appear on the lesson plan.

    2.) A "Strategies" button could…

  13. allow us to click anywhere in the box to edit the lesson.

In the past, I could click anywhere in the box to bring up the lesson editor. Now, I have to click on the colored ribbon at the top. Sometimes, my lessons are long, and I do not want to have to scroll to the top each time I want to change it. It was much easier to click anywhere in the box.

You can double click anywhere in the box to open a lesson, no need to scroll up to the lesson title. Hope that helps, any questions just let us know. Thanks!

  14. Allow a weekend day to be used as one giant notepad that is visible each week.

I would love to have Saturday or Sunday be used as a notepad to write all of my week's objectives. It would be visible each day I look at my weekly planbook.

  15. Keep class lined Up

I would like to see the classes remain in a line across the page. I like that the cell size remains the same size but when you add an event then the classes no longer remain in a straight line across the page. I would also like to be able to set the cell size so that classes with a shorter text could have a smaller cell.

  16. be able to download the year's worth of lesson plans at one time

I have to submit my year's worth of lesson plans to my principal and I don't want to have to do it one week at a time.

I have also emailed your support team 2 times asking them if there is currently a way to do this and I haven't gotten a reply back.

  17. Schedule Swap

Due to holidays often falling on either a Monday or Friday, my school board sometimes swaps days. In other words we will have a Monday schedule on a Wednesday for instance. It would be helpful if there were a feature to swap day schedules.

    Hi there,

A feature you may be able to use, is the option to set custom times. You can find this option at the top of the lesson edit window for a specific lesson. Please let me know if this option works, or if you have any questions by sending us an email at support@planbook.com.

    Thank you,

    Chris

  18. Add a collaboration option

Our school recently purchased a school-wide license. As a classroom teacher I have other teachers coming into my room to support my instruction (ENL, special ed, Speech, Occupational Therapist, etc). It would be nice to be able add collaborators to my plans so that they may add/expand upon the plans to that I have made to better support a co-teaching model.

To simplify the process of sharing lessons, we’ve added support for class collaboration. Multiple teachers (or a single teacher with multiple sections) can now “share” the lessons of a class. A change made by one teacher will automatically update the lesson for all teachers who share the class. To allow others to share your lessons, edit the class, and set Collaborate to “View Only” or “View/Edit”. To share the lessons from another teacher, edit your class, and set Collaborate to “Replica”. You’ll then be able to select a teacher and class to share the lessons.

  19. Allow changes to the schedule that don't change the previous schedule.

My class schedule changes over the year, but when I have made changes to my templates, the program goes back to my old plans and changes everything back to September. I just want to change it from now to whenever I change it again.

Good news! We’ve added new options to session management. On your Planbook Account page, you can now set your session timeout to 24 hours, 30 days, or never. Hope that helps, any questions please let us know. Thanks!
