i need a button to select the wholle school year rather than having to input the start and end dates for things that happen every day. i like to be lazy :) Inputting things like lunch and recess, dismissal, things at the same time every day.

This may not seem intuitive, but we think of items such as lunch, recess, dismissal, etc. as “classes” rather than “events”. If you create a class for each of these, then these items will be skipped when you have no school days, and you can add specific information on any day if needed (such as when you are having lunch with a group of students).
