Substitute plans
I love planbook.com because it is so easy to print out my plans for a sub. However, I like to be able to have a set of emergency sub plans ready just in case. It would be great if there was a place to store a set of general sub plans!
Substitute Notes provide you with a place to store general classroom information that would be helpful to a substitute teacher. This may include a list of students with special needs, classroom rules, bathroom procedures, transition activities, who to contact with questions, etc. Substitute Notes can also be used to store a set of general plans for your substitute teacher to follow. When you will have a substitute teacher for your class, you simply print out your daily lesson plans, print out your Substitute Notes, and leave them on your desk. You can also save your plans and notes to a PDF file, and send them via email if you are not able to return to your classroom.

Where do you find Substitute Notes so you can type in them?

I would like there to be a separate place as well. At PlanbookEdu.com, I could make a special calendar just for sub plans. As a workaround, I have a week in June after I expect school to end, and have a week's worth of sub plans there. That way, I have a basic plan for any day of the week, that still fits in with the regular schedule. But a separate space would be BETTER, because when there is a sub there, I may not want to change times and even lessons depending on what I had planned... and it is a pain to go in and change the times, lesson names etc... but if I don't do that I think it is confusing for the sub. Planbookedu.com allowed me to create multiple plan books, and made one into an emergency sub plan, with lesson times etc. that were easier for a sub. I teach grade 2.

I agree! There needs to be an option without dates!

We need a place to write emergency sub plans that we can give a potential sub a code to access.

A template that can be added for the day when there is a substitute teacher.
All the details could be typed in advance for each class and then the lesson would be the only part needing to be changed through out the year. -

Emergency sub plans are required at our school. They are not attached to any particular day, so they need a special "place" for them. Attaching them to some random day is not particularly useful, so they need to be separate. Thanks!

I was also unable to find the new Substitute Notes feature, so I emailed support@planbook.com. I thought I would post their response below:
"To access Substitute Notes, click the Notepad icon located directly to the left of the More menu. Click Substitute Notes, enter your notes, and click Apply to save them. You may then print or email your notes if needed, and substitutes will be able to see these notes in the same place where you have left them."

How do you access substitute notes? I realize that I could create a new tab in the display section however, I would like to try this new feature out.

How do you get to the new substitute notes?

I already added this idea in the previous section but I think two things would make Planbook even better:
1.) A sub plans options where I can have fields that never change such as emergency information, my contact info etc. Then have the daily plans added in2.) I also think it would be better to click on specific days to add events or extra lessons. It takes too long to navigate through the more tab during meetings or when I'm having to change the day around.

rather than using a tab, create a class for sub plans, and just only have the class meet on the days that you are out. You can plan 10 days, and then schedule them when you will be out.

I have created a set plan for substitutes by creating a template in the notes section for each subject. Works great. I can then just print off the day/week and include the notes.

A template to be able to create your own general sub-plan, and then use that together with the regular daily plan and print them off together for a substitute.

I just added Sub Plans as one of the tabs in classes. I even set up a template so the skeletal plans are already in there (on that tab so I do not need to see them in my plans as I keep this tab hidden from my view). This works for me. Then I leave the link (student) on a sticker on my monitor and the sub can get them. They see all plans with the detailed Sub Plans as that tab is viewable.

Never mind! I just discovered that this can already be done by creating my own tab in the "Display" feature. I am soooo excited! :)
