Remove class from a single day
I teach a 4th grade self-contained class (teach all subjects). Especially during test season, certain subjects are cancelled for a day. I know I can adjust the time of a class (math might be moved from the morning to the afternoon, for example), but it would also be helpful if I could just delete those classes rather than have many empty slots that are unused.
Good news! We have added the ability to remove a class from a single day. Simply edit the lesson, and click No Class. Do not hesitate to contact us at support@planbook.com with any questions.
Thanks!

Is there a way to permanently delete a class. If I click "No class," it is back the following week.

Thank you, Ashlee!! I could NOT figure out how to get it back.

For those wondering, I just figured out how to add it back in once I put in a no class day. Go to classes and click on edit for the class that you deleted. At the top right, it says no class days and you just click the x beside it.

I put in no class on one day because I thought we had no school, but it turns out that there is school. How do I go back to having class after I already selected the no class option?

Is there any way to undo a class? I removed one, due to a speaker coming in but now need to add it back. :(

This is a nice tool, but is not useful for self-contained elementary teachers if a class can't be deleted or added for a single day. Our schedules change a lot at this level. If this doesn't change, I will not be paying for or recommending this program to others.

I agree. This would make ti much easier to look at my day and quickly determine how it will flow.

I agree with this idea! This is my first year using Planbook. I have loved getting to know the program and it has worked (almost) perfectly with my needs. However, this is the one area in which I feel it could be improved. Often times, a specialty class (Music, PE, Library) is bumped from the day's schedule and I would like to be able to insert something else into that time frame for that one day. Is this idea in the works yet?

I suggested this idea awhile back. Like when we can customize times, It would be great if we can do the same with the header or subject area. There are times that are used for "non-instructional time" such as a classroom event, or just doing a craft. For example my class won a movie/popcorn reward and it would be nice to block out the class titles or delete those blocks, because I would schedule it as an event. Checking for a staus. Thank you.

I agree. I'm a special education teacher and there are days when my classes are canceled due to parent teacher conferences, tests, early release days, and many other factors. I'd like to be able to have that as an option when adding an event (will your classes be canceled as a result of this event).

Wish I could vote more than 3 times for this one!!!

Yes! I have been wishing for this for two years! Assemblies, state testing, etc. often cause subjects or classes to be cancelled for a day. I would love to be able to delete the classes that are not used on those days. I add the event, but then still have an empty time slot.

Yes, this would make planning on early release days or late start days much easier!

Completely agree!!! I have just signed up and was looking for this option. Delete a subject for a day in a necessary improvement please.

Or, if a class has no text for that day (an empty class), just hide it from the print version. This should be easily implemented using CSS.

I would love this option. There are times when we may have an assembly or Mass, that would be classified as an "event" rather than a class. I do not like empty slots on the pages. To DELETE them just for one day would be great.

Yes! I am also self-contained things slide continually. I set up the classes so they are available every day for me to put a lesson in but there are some days, I don't use them. I don't put a time so they appear at the bottom as blank but with the headings. It would be nice if there was an option to hide/delete a class without a lesson so it wouldn't print.

I AGREE! Just like we can click on a class and custom the time, perhaps there can be an added option of deleting just that one class WITHOUT having the next day's class take its place.
